The Christmas Season is wonderful. The things I like best about it are some of the wonderful things that are happening at Bernie UMC right now. The Sonshine Singers, our Children's Choir, are busy rehearsing for their Christmas Program. Tina Botsch is equally busy helping the kids as they they craft Christmas treasures for the whole congregation. Susan Marner-Sides wrote the production for our Christmas Program and it is wonderful!!
Bob Sides said at Administrative Council he had an eye on a good looking tree on his land for the Church. On the table in the fellowship hall are boxes being filled with love to be shipped overseas to our soldiers. Bernie UMC is taking up our November Noisy Offering for the wards of the Public Administrator - who otherwise would not have Christmas amenities. There will be beautiful music from Helen Botsch and the Bernie UMC Choir. Patty and Travis Moore will be decorating the exterior of the Church to add the beauty of the season to Main Street. Christmas is already everywhere at hand thanks to the Christmas spirit that permeates our family of faith.
Christ is not about getting - it is about giving of yourself. It is about the gift of love born in a manger, come down to earth. Christmas is about wise men following a star and finding a babe - a King whose only earthly crown would be made of thorns. Christmas is about man so desperately needing God that He sent his Only begotten son to bridge the chasm of sin for us. And it is about being a part of a wonderful family of faith who delivers meals on wheels, sends reminders of home to our troops overseas, who decorate their hearts with love as the decorate the sanctuary with ornaments that represent Christ's Love for us.
We at Bernie United Methodist Church invite you to join with us in services during this Christmas season and we travel anew the journey of faith that leads to a stable in Bethlehem.
We invite you to join with us on Christmas Eve for services at 6:00 pm as we tell anew the Story of Christmas in scripture and the carols we love and remember what Christ as done for us.
We invite you to join with us on Christmas Day at 10:30 for Christmas Services (or services at Shumach Church at 8:30). What better place to be with your family than with our family of faith on Christmas Day. What better time to accept or reaffirm that babe in swaddling clothes as our Savior and as the Savior of the World!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
